There is nothing quite like digging into a big bowl of ice cream sundae, or setting tongue to a tasty-treat-topped cone after a hot day. Of course, we all have our favorite flavors.

According to a recent survey by the International Dairy Foods Association, vanilla, then chocolate, followed by butter pecan are the three most popular ice cream flavors among Americans—with rocky road, coffee and Neapolitan tied for distant fourth. There are some interesting differences when accounting for age. Millennials are likely to go for varieties such as cookies & cream and chocolate chip cookie dough, while people 55 and up were far more likely to prefer butter pecan and vanilla.
