Food is universal. Everyone eats it, and it connects us with different people and cultures. But how people enjoy, eat and talk about food varies widely. The type of food one chooses to eat is influenced by his or her age and generation.

Baby Boomers, who are now in their 60s, grew up eating foods prepared by their mothers or grandmothers. This generation is known for their love of comfort foods, such as meatloaf, macaroni and cheese and pot pies.

Generation X, or those in their 40s, grew up with more working mothers. As a result, this generation is known for their love of convenience foods, such as pizza, frozen dinners and fast food.

Generation Y, or millennials, are in their 20s and 30s. This generation is known for their love of healthy foods and their willingness to spend more money on organic and vegan foods.
