The Fate of the Furious broke the record for largest weekend debut worldwide with $541 million, ousting Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Wonder Woman set an example for future female directors by becoming the highest grossing film directed by a woman. It was also the highest-grossing superhero origin flick and World War I film too. The highest grossing World War II film? It was Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk also released this year.
