Gowns have always been in style for women of all ages from past to present. Over the years, different groups of people have worn gowns in distinct styles to represent status, riches, occupation, or simply to make a fashion statement.

The earliest gowns were long, loose outer garments, like robes, worn by Anglo-Saxon women. It was then worn by students attending European universities in the 12th and 13th centuries. The status of the students would be represented in their choice of outfit. A version resembling the modern iteration of gowns was worn in Italy in the 1500s, with a high waist and low neck that was soon modified to have a low waist and high neck. By the late 16th century, gowns were predominantly used to denote professions like bankers or priests. Around the 17th century, trimmings and embellishments were added to gowns with modifications to the shape and length.

If you've always wanted to personalize a gown of your own, here's your chance to design the gown of your dreams! Your taste and design flair for this beautiful dress will determine which Disney Princess you are most like.
