Food is universal. Everyone eats it, and it connects us with people of various cultures and creeds. The foods that people used to enjoy may be different from today. They were great when we were growing up, and they're just as delicious now. Some foods come and go, but many beloved but all-but-forgotten dishes and desserts certainly still deserve a spot on our dining table.
When you think of the meals from decades ago, your mind might immediately conjure up images of food encased in gelatin, chicken mousse, boiled vegetables, and bland baked meats. But apart from some slightly less than savory dishes, those years also gave us comforting dinners like chicken potpie, meatloaf, and Salisbury steak.
Here are 25 retro classic including some that remain relevant today, and some that have, for the most part, disappeared. If you have tried a large majority of them, then you are likely to have an old soul.

You haven’t had most of these dishes! That must mean you’re a young person. Donβt be scared of eating those delicious dishes of yesteryear. Our parents and grandparents grew up on them, so they can’t be that bad.
Several of these dishes really turned my stomach!

You haveΒ tried your share of the dishes listed here but not that many, which means you have adult taste buds, but they aren’t SUPER adult. There may be a few classics you don’t care much for, and who can blame you? Chicken livers and foods encasedΒ in gelatin, no thank you. Don’t worry, I’m right there with ya.

I still make a lot of those foods!
10/25 40%Well 0ver 50 but the pics are not of foods we would eat over in U.K. the shrimp thing was nothing like a nice prawn cocktail that we would eat over here, I have never had meatloaf thought lots of these foods were American. As for meats and veg in jelly I don’t eat that but we call it Terrine and cold ham etc held together by a plain jelly is quite nice. My mum and grandad used to eat strange things cheaper meats after the war when rationing, grandad used to boil pigs trotters and eat the meat and jelly off the bones, Mum would eat bag which I think is acows udder and tripe which I think is lining of a cows stomach you boil the tripe and she loved bag with salt and vinegar on. Yuk I never touched these and was never made toto but suppose if my parents generation had lived through a war and food was scarce they would not waste much.
