International Women's Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It's also a call to action for accelerating gender equality. The day was first observed in the early 1900s, and it has since evolved into a worldwide movement.
The first official International Women's Day was celebrated on March 8, 1911. However, its roots trace back to labor movements in Europe and North America in the early 20th century, where women fought for better working conditions, equal pay, and the right to vote.
March 8th was chosen for its historical significance: on this day in 1917, women in Russia went on strike, marking the beginning of the Russian Revolution. It's a powerful reminder of how women have always been at the forefront of social change.
Yes, International Women's Day is recognized and celebrated in countries all over the world, though the way it's observed can differ. Some nations host marches, conferences, and protests, while others focus on community events and educational campaigns.
Each year, there's a different theme that highlights a particular area of focus. For example, the 2024 theme is "Choose to Challenge", encouraging individuals to challenge gender bias and inequality. Themes can be empowering, thought-provoking, and meant to bring attention to different aspects of gender equality. For 2025, the theme is "Accelerate Action".

20/22. This is the first I’ve heard of there being a color associated with International Women’s Day.
17/22. Should have been at least one more. Didn’t read the question properly. First AMERICAN woman in space, not first woman. And I clicked Bronte instead of Austen. So that leaves 3 I didn’t know and guessed wrong.
12/22 not good but never heard of some of them, still it says I did a great job, 54%.
