The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been through several phases. In Phase 1, we watched as Earth began to fill up with specially skilled people. The good ones among them formed a group called the Avengers and protected the planet. As time marched on, or in Doctor Strange's case did something else entirely, the movies introduced new characters and heroes as everything worked toward Thanos' big attack.

Following Avengers: Endgame it really feels like we are entering a new era in the MCU. The advent of Disney+ is spurring this on by giving us original television shows such as WandaVision, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Loki, to name a few. Some of the most important characters are now no longer playing the same roles. Iron Man is gone, Captain America is a whole new guy, and the MCU is moving into a different time.
