21/22 fyi – ‘spring into action’ is NOT a Spring idiom, it is the verb ‘to spring’ meaning rise, leap, move or act suddenly.

About This Quiz

Spring Idioms Quiz

Ah, spring. The time of year when the days get longer, the air smells fresher, and the world starts waking up from its winter hibernation. Flowers bloom, birds chirp, and suddenly, everything just feels better. But you know what else flourishes in spring? Language!

Idiomsβ€”those weird, funny, and sometimes downright bizarre phrasesβ€”are sprinkled throughout the English language, and many of them are inspired by the seasons. Spring idioms, in particular, are all about new beginnings, growth, and change. Ever heard someone say, "You're no spring chicken" or "April showers bring May flowers"? These phrases aren't just about the weatherβ€”they have deeper meanings that we use in everyday conversations.

So, before you spring into the quiz, let's warm up with some fun spring idioms!

Here's a cheat sheet of some common spring idioms you might come across:

  • "Fresh as a daisy" – Energetic and lively.
  • "A late bloomer" – Someone who develops skills or talents later than others.
  • "Turn over a new leaf" – To start fresh or make a positive change.
  • "Come up roses" – To have a successful outcome.

β˜€οΈ Weather & Seasons Idioms

  • "April showers bring May flowers" – Hard times lead to better things.
  • "Under the weather" – Feeling sick or unwell.
  • "Spring forward" – Move ahead with energy and enthusiasm.

  • "Like a sitting duck" – Being in a vulnerable position.
  • "A social butterfly" – Someone who loves being around people.

Now that you're warmed up, it's time to put your skills to the test!

How to Take the Spring Idioms Quiz

Taking the quiz is easy, and each question comes with an explanation so you'll walk away knowing more than when you started. Here's how it works:

  1. Read each question carefullyβ€”some will ask for the meaning of an idiom, while others will be fill-in-the-blank.
  2. Choose the best answer from the multiple-choice options.
  3. If you get it right, congrats! You're one step closer to becoming an idioms master.
  4. If you get it wrong, no worries! You'll get an explanation, so you'll learn something new.
  5. Finish the quiz and see your scoreβ€”did you bloom like a spring flower or wilt under the pressure?
  6. Climb our leaderboards by scoring points on trivia quizzes and finishing the most challenges!

So, are you ready to test your knowledge and spring into action? (Oops, there we go with the idioms again.) Let's get started!
