    Quite a few of these were steady viewing for me back in the day: I Love Lucy, Honeymooners, Dragnet, Perry Mason, and What’s My Line?

    I used to watch a few of these shows — The Honeymooners, Dragnet, Perry Mason — while the rest were common knowledge being well-publicized.

It is considered to be the golden age of television as watching the tube became a new form of entertainment, with many families enjoying this medium for the very first time. With it, came the popularization of TV shows like sitcoms, comedies and game shows, with Westerns gaining popularity in later years. As TV programming expanded, by the end of the decade most American families had their very own television set in their living room. This exciting decade certainly paved the way for the future of network television.
