Netflix and chill? More like Netflix and THRILL (at staying comfy)! You're the master of creating perfect vibes, complete with fuzzy socks, hot cocoa, and zero FOMO. While others are wrestling with party crowds, you're living your best life under a blanket fort, counting down with your favorite characters.
taipei 101 coutndown :)) You’re a perfect blend of innovative and grounded! Like Taiwan’s iconic skyscraper celebration, you combine cutting-edge style with deep respect for tradition. You love being part of grand spectacles but appreciate the thoughtful details. Just as Taipei brings together night markets, high-tech displays, and cultural performances, you excel at mixing different vibes into something uniquely special. Your friends count on you to find the coolest new spots while keeping cherished traditions alive.
Home Movie Marathon. Partially true as I don’t ‘do’ crowds and socialising but I don’t like movies very much either. For the record, I don’t celebrate New Year’s Eve as I hate it.

Sydney Harbor Fireworks, I would like too but, I can`t afford to go, because I am an Aussie & I live in another state. I will be at home with my dog & drinking Jim Beam & cola. Happy New Year 2025.
I lived in inner Sydney for 20 yrs so was able to go easily. But best time was after I moved back up the coast. My disabled nephew belonged to a group invited to the Lord Mayor’s Picnic and 4 of us were able to accompany him. We had prime viewing from the Botanical Gardens with free parking nearby, free food and (non-alcoholic) drinks, other roaming entertainment and with a loud speaker so we could hear the music accompanying the fireworks. The “ghost” ships, all the harbour craft carrying lights on their rigging, moving through the dark on the bay was absolutely breathtakingly magical. First and only time I got to see that. Hard to appreciate now on TV but I can always imagine being there again. I can appreciate that it would be very difficult to go if you don’t live there or are lucky enough to get a special privilege (at a pretty high cost – my nephew passed away far too young), and especially if you had to pay for accommodation. I think you’d have to be pretty well off. I think it’s important to appreciate the good things we are lucky enough to get. I have many hardly worth sharing but just as valuable to me. I hope you don’t think I am telling you this to sound superior or luckier. I am just sharing a very special memory. Happy New Year 2025 to all.
Home movie marathon. That’s right, all by myself, in my p.js, watching the crowds on TV, happy I’m home, safe, warm, and my bed awaiting. Just the way I like it!
Home movie marathon – my going out on NYE are past. Best NYE’s were being in Sydney city for the fireworks a number of time. They are nowhere near as good on TV as live.

New Year's Eve is that one night when the whole world celebrates together. It's pretty incredible when you think about it: for 24 hours straight, different cities light up one by one as midnight sweeps across the globe. Each place has its own special way of saying goodbye to the old year and hello to the new one. Which New Year's Eve (NYE) countdown are you?
Some people live for the energy of huge crowds counting down together. Others would rather chill at home with their closest friends, watching the celebrations on TV while wrapped in blankets. And you know what? Both are equally valid ways to welcome the new year.
You're standing there, phone in hand, watching yet another Instagram story of your friend living their best life at some amazing New Year's Eve celebration. Maybe they're posting from Times Square, champagne in hand, or showing off Sydney's fireworks display while you're still deciding what to do this year. Well, guess what? Finding your perfect New Year's celebration is about to get way easier.
New Year's Celebrations Around the World
Before you jump into the quiz, let's talk about some of the most famous New Year's celebrations. Which NYE celebration is your perfect match?
Times Square Ball Drop: The classic New York celebration that's been going strong since 1907. Over a million people pack into Times Square to watch that famous crystal ball drop.
Sydney Harbor fireworks: The first major city to welcome the new year, Sydney puts on a show that sets the bar high with its spectacular harbor display.
Paris celebration: The City of Light lives up to its name with light projections along the Champs-Élysées, and the Arc de Triomphe as the crown jewel.
Las Vegas Strip: The entire Strip becomes one massive block party with fireworks launching from multiple casino rooftops.
The Rise of Stay-at-Home Celebrations
But here's something interesting - the past few years since COVID-19 have totally changed how we think about New Year's Eve. More people are discovering the joy of hosting intimate gatherings or having cozy solo celebrations. These aren't just backup plans anymore; they're becoming the first choice for many people who want to start their year in a more personal way.
Did you know? According to recent surveys, almost 40% of people prefer celebrating New Year's at home or at a friend's house rather than going to large public events. Maybe it's because there's something special about starting the new year surrounded by the people and vibes that make you feel most like yourself.
