Asia is the largest of the seven continents of the world. There are 48 countries in Asia recognized by the United Nations and three dependent territories in total, all of which have their own capitals. The most famous of these are metropolitan cities like Tokyo, Jakarta, New Delhi, Seoul, and Beijing. There are also beautiful, exotic capital cities like Bangkok, Kathmandu, Phnom Penh, Vientiane, and Hanoi.

A few countries in Asia even have multiple capitals that serve different functions, such as Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, and Sri Lanka's Kotte and Colombo. In Asia you would also find the city-state, Singapore—one of three in the world—which is a capital in its own right.
