According to Wikipedia, a berry is "a fleshy fruit produced from a single ovary." By this definition, bananas, avocados, oranges, chili peppers, and even watermelons and pumpkins can technically be considered part of the berry family. But when we talk about berries we are usually talking about the tiny, colorful, juicy sweet-tart jewels that we use in pies, tarts, juices and breakfast bowls.
Not only are berries incredibly tasty, they are also one of the healthiest types of fruit in the world. Beyond the usual strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, red currants, and blackcurrants, there's a whole vast world of berries out there to explore.
