These days, almost all computing devices we use come equipped with a tool for checking both spelling and grammar. Although a spell checker is a convenient tool that aids us in everyday use, it will never fully take the place of educating yourself properly and polishing your writing skills.
For example:
"Spell check will not fined words witch are miss used butt spelled rite!"
The above sentence is full of errors, but an ordinary spell checker will find few or no errors in it. This is because most spell checkers can only detect if words are spelled correctly, not if they are used correctly. Therefore we cannot merely rely on a program to ensure what we write is error-free. If we rely on autocorrect too heavily, it will mean that we never learn from our spelling mistakes as well. When it comes to homophones like two, too and to, all valid words that sound the same but obviously not interchangeable, many native English speaker make the mistake of using them incorrectly.
Are you a confident speller who doesn't rely on spellcheck? Choose the correct spelling for these commonly misspelled words and see if you're in the 1% or the 99%!
